'Contorted Filbert', Corylus avellana Contorted

Winter can be harsh for some plants. As the temperatures lower they decide to hide their beauty until warmer weather returns. In some rare cases though certain plants hide one treasure only to reveal an even greater one.

The 'Contorted Filbert' is one of those plants special plants that when its leaves are shed for winter it unveil a canvas of form that few plants can rival. With branches that look as if they twist and turn in every direction giving the illusion as almost they have no beginning or end. It is truly a plant that saves its best for the winter landscape.
